Murray  Leinster

Murray Leinster was the pen name of William Fitzgerald Jenkins, an award-winning American science fiction and alternate history author who lived from 1896 to 1975. Around 1500 short stories and essays, fourteen movie scripts, and hundreds of radio and television plays were written and published by him. His debut science fiction short, The Runaway Skyscraper, was published in the February 22, 1919 edition of Argosy, and his 1956 story Exploration Team won him a Hugo Award. He was also an inventor, best recognized for his invention of the front-projection technique for special effects. Will F. was born on June 27, 2009, in Virginia. Jenkins Day is celebrated in recognition of his contributions to science fiction.
