Nancy  Pearl

America's Librarian, Nancy Pearl, is a well-known figure in the United States. She lectures about the joys of reading at library conferences, literacy organizations, and community groups throughout the world, and she often contributes to NPR's Morning Edition with book reviews. She was born and reared in Detroit and graduated from the University of Michigan with a master's degree in library science in 1967. In 1977, she earned a master's degree in history from Oklahoma State University. Among her many distinctions and awards are Library Journal's 2011 Librarian of the Year Award and the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association's 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Nancy Pearl also hosts a monthly television show called Book Lust. Her husband and she live in Seattle.
