Nicholas Kristof and his wife, Sheryl WuDunn, have previously coauthored three books: Half the Sky, Thunder from the East, and China Wakes. They won the Dayton Literary Peace Award in 2009 and a Pulitzer Prize in 1990 for their coverage of China. Kristof worked as a bureau chief in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Tokyo before becoming an op-ed columnist for the New York Times. In 2006, he was awarded his second Pulitzer Prize for his essays on Darfur. WuDunn was a business editor and foreign reporter for the New York Times in Tokyo and Beijing, and now works in finance.
