Nicola  Griffith

Nicola Griffith was born in the English city of Leeds. She relocated to Hull at the age of eighteen, where she taught women's self-defense to groups as diverse as the Equal Opportunities Training Unit and the Union of Catholic Mothers, as well as being the main singer/songwriter for Jane's Plane, an all-female band. Ammonite and Slow River are her works, which have earned the Nebula Award, the Garvin Tiptree, Jr Memorial Award, and two Lambda Awards. Griffith is currently based in Seattle, where she lives with her partner, Kelley Eskridge, a writer.
