Patrick J.Carnes, PhD, is an internationally recognized expert and lecturer on the subject of addiction and recovery. Out of the Shadows: Understanding Addiction Recovery, Betrayal Connection, Don't Call It Love, The Gentle Way Through the Twelve Steps, and The Gentle Road Through the Twelve Principles are just a few of his many publications. Thousands of therapists around the world, as well as many well-known treatment institutions, residential homes, and hospitals, employ Dr. Carnes' research to build the task model for treating addictions. He established the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP), which offers CSAT (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) training and certification, as well as cutting-edge information for addiction experts. Dr. Carnes currently works at The Meadows in Wickenburg, AZ as a Senior Fellow and Executive Director for the Gentle Way Program.
