Philip Carlo

Gaspipe, The Butcher, and The Night Stalker were written by Philip Carlo and follow serial killer Richard Ramirez's terrible career. Carlo grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, which has the world's greatest Mafia population. Carlo was injured in the head in a gang battle when he was 16, and while recovering, he devoured reading, experiencing the magic of books for the first time. Carlo became a great crime writer thanks to his deep knowledge of Mafia culture--their walk and talk. He died of ALS in 2010.
