R Davis

Ryan A. Davis is an Assistant Professor of Spanish at Illinois State University's Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. His work on nineteenth- and twentieth-century Spain focuses on the junction of literary and medical discourses, national and individual subjectivity articulations, and, more recently, 'fringe' discourses like hypnotism. His work has been published in the Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies, Revista de Estudios Hispánicos, Decimonónica, and Ometeca, among other publications. The Spanish Influenza Epidemic of 1918-1919: Emerging Views from the Iberian Peninsula and the Americas (forthcoming) is co-edited by him.
