Rich Johnson has a lot of experience with survival. He's served in the US Army Special Forces as a demolition sergeant, as a Coast Guard Auxiliary instructor, as an EMT, a firefighter, and as a police officer. He's excelled as an experienced SCUBA diver, paratrooper, sailor, and skier in his spare time, and spent a year in the desert wilderness with his wife and small children, which included living in a cave and eating bugs. Rich Johnson's Handbook to Wilderness Survival is his first book, which he wrote for Outdoor Life.
