Rick Bass is the author of twenty-seven books, including The Wild Marsh, Why I Came West, and The Lives of Rocks, among other works of fiction and nonfiction. His works have been nominees for the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Award, and the New York Times and Los Angeles Times Best Book of the Year. The National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation have also given him fellowships, and his short stories and essays have garnered O. The stories have been anthologized in Best American Short Stories, Best American Travel Writing, and Best Spiritual Writing, and have won the Henry and Pushcart Awards.
