Ruth Stiles Gannett

My Father's Dragon was written by Ruth Stiles Gannett just a few years after she graduated from Vassar College in 1944. It was an instant hit, earning a Newbery Honor Book, and two sequels, Elmer and the Dragon and The Dragons of Blueland, were published soon after. In the more than 40 years following their publication, all three dragon stories have remained in print. Katie and the Sad Sounds and The Beautiful House-Boat-Train are two of the author's previous works. Peter Kahn, an artist and calligrapher, is her husband.

They have a total of seven daughters and grandchildren. Visit www.myfathersdragon.org to learn more about her.
