Professor and Director of the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia is Sally Thorne, RN, PhD. During the past 25 years, her study has focused on the human experience of chronic illness and cancer. She has continued to develop Interpretive Description as a qualitative research strategy particularly suited to research questions developed from inside applicable disciplines, including the health professions, since its initial publication in 1997. Dr. Thorne is a well-known author, as well as a sought-after consultant on qualitative methodology concerns and a dedicated instructor. She has written or coauthored 100 papers and three books.
