Sarah Raughley

Sarah Raughley

Sarah Raughley grew up in Southern Ontario, secretly wishing to be a freaky young girl with superpowers and creating stories about them. She is a tremendous admirer of everything from manga to sci-fi fantasy television to Japanese role-playing games and other nerdy stuff, and it is all of these things that have influenced her work. Sarah has been nominated for the Aurora Award for Best YA Novel and teaches writing classes to children and adults in the neighborhood. Sarah has a PhD in English, which qualifies her as a doctor, and it turns out she didn't need to go to medical school after all. Sarah has taught undergraduate courses and worked as a postdoctoral fellow in academia.

Her study focuses on racial and gender representations in popular culture, youth culture, and postcolonialism. She has contributed to political, cultural, and intellectual periodicals as a writer and editor. Her voice is still being put to excellent use. SarahRaughley.com is where you can find her online.
