Silvousplaits (Silvousplaits Hairstyling), also known as Shannon Burns, is the creator of one of the most popular movie and television hair tutorial channels on YouTube (Silvousplaits Hairstyling). Badass Braids: 45 Maverick Braids, Buns, and Twists Inspired by Vikings, Game of Thrones, and More is her first book. She specializes in creating movies and pictorials that recreate popular media's fantasy, sci-fi, and historical hairstyles, such as Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Vikings, and Star Wars hairstyles. Once a post to reddit.com/r/gameofthrones became popular in February 2013, she began her Internet hair adventures. Her instructions have appeared on HBO Watch, mtv.com, Buzzfeed, and the History Channel since then.

She also occasionally shares instructions for her own unique styles, as well as basic hairstyling techniques and hair care advice based on scientific research. She also offers personal hairstyling services outside of YouTube.
