Spike Lee, an Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated American film director, producer, writer, and actor known for films dealing with sensitive social and political problems, is one of the most prolific and critically renowned artists of our time. He also teaches film at Columbia University and New York University. Since 1983, his production firm, 40 Acres & A Mule Filmworks, has produced over 35 films, including Do the Right Thing, She's Gotta Have It, Malcolm X, and 25th Hour, among others.
