Stephanie Guerra is also the author of Torn, a young adult story, and Billy the Kid Is Not Insane, a middle grade novel. Stephanie teaches children's literature at Seattle University's College of Education. She is the Seattle host for Readergirlz, a teen fiction site. She received the Virginia Hamilton Essay Prize in 2013 for her work on multicultural literary encounters for young people. Her studies concentrate on literacy teaching for jailed and at-risk youth.
