Sylvie Rancourt was born in Northern Quebec and relocated to Montreal in the early 1980s as a cartoonist and painter. Melody was an instant cult hit in English, selling over 200,000 copies, while the French Melody collection was nominated for a medal at the Angoulême Festival in 2013. Rancourt resides in Abitibi, Canada, with her husband and five children, and spends much of her time painting.
