Thomas Nield (author of Getting Started with SQL) works as a schedule consultant for Southwest Airlines. He grew concerned with technology and its function in business analytics early in his career. He became an open-source contributor and an author/trainer for O'Reilly Media after becoming adept in Java, Kotlin, Python, SQL, and reactive programming. He is passionate about teaching others new skills and sharing what he has learned. Thomas is now interested in data science, reactive programming, and the Kotlin language, and appreciates making technical stuff understandable and relevant to those who are unfamiliar with or scared by it. You might hear him speak on these three topics and how they are related.
