Toby Bost

Toby Bost, field faculty emeritus, is best known for his thirty-one years with the NC Cooperative Extension Service as a horticulture and Extension Agent. He recruited and certified more than 400 Master Gardeners in Durham and Forsyth counties for more than two decades, appearing frequently in the media as a gardening educator. He has contributed to various newspapers and periodicals, including Carolina Gardener and Our State, as a garden writer. Numerous landscaping professionals have benefited from the programs he established to help them obtain certification from a variety of trade organisations. He was the director of the Arboretum at Tanglewood Park for six years, and he continues to work as a mentor and consultant to help gardeners overcome hard clay soils and create healthy lawns and gardens.
