Tom Bingham

Tom Bingham, dubbed the most eminent of our judges by the Guardian, was the only person in history to hold all three positions: Master of the Rolls, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, and Senior Law Lord of the United Kingdom. When he became Lord Chief Justice in 1996, he was made a life peer as Baron Bingham of Cornhill in the County of Powys. He was made a Knight of the Garter in 2005, the first professional judge to receive the honor. He retired in 2008 and was named the inaugural winner of the Alexander S. Award for Law by the Institut de France in the same year. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Aristotle Onassi
