Tomas  Transtromer

In 2011, Tomas Transtromer (1933-2015) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. His poetry volumes, The Deleted World and The Half-Finished Heaven, have been translated into sixty languages, and he has garnered countless international honors during his lifetime. Transtromer, a certified Swedish psychologist, spent years working in state institutions with adolescents and the disabled, and his work was lauded for its innovative approaches to mental examination. The Swedish Academy remarked when he was given the Nobel Prize that his condensed, translucent images provided us new access to reality.
