W.Y.Evans-Wentz was a Theosophist who studied at Stanford University and Oxford's Jesus College. Afterwards, he proceeded to Tibet, where he studied Tibetan religious literature and collaborated with Lama Kazi Dawa-Samdup to transcribe works that became known as The Tibetan Book of the Dead or The After-Death Encounters on the Bardo Plane.
