Book Overview

A hands-on, practical survival guide from retired Navy SEAL Clint Emerson--adapted for civilians from actual special forces operations--to eluding pursuers, evading capture, and surviving any dangerous situation.

In today's increasingly dangerous world, threats to your personal safety are everywhere. From acts of terror to mass shootings, and from the unseen (and sometimes virtual) matrix of everyday crime, danger is no longer confined to dark alleys or unstable regions. Potentially life-threatening circumstances can arise anywhere, anytime, and Clint Emerson--former Navy SEAL--wants you to be prepared.

100 Deadly Skills contains proven self-defense skills, evasion tactics, and immobilizing maneuvers--modified from the world of black ops--to help you take action in numerous worst case scenarios from escaping a locked trunk, to making an improvised Taser, to tricking facial recognition software. With easy-to-understand instructions and illustrations, Emerson outlines in detail many life-saving strategies and teaches you how to think and act like a member of the special forces.

This complete course in survival teaches you how to prevent tracking, evade a kidnapping, elude an active shooter, rappel down the side of a building, immobilize a bad guy, protect yourself against cyber-criminals, and much more--all using low-tech to no-tech methods. Clear, detailed, and presented in an easy-to-understand and execute format, 100 Deadly Skills is an invaluable resource. Because let's face it, when danger is imminent, you don't have time for complicated instructions.

   Don't buy the Kindle edition
I'm writing this so poorly because I received the Kindle edition. If you're going to get this book with all the illustrations you definitely need to book, you'll get : The Kindle edition sucks! The Kindle Edition ''
A wide variety of skills presented in a direct manner
I picked this up after hearing the author speak on a podcast about the book. I really like it ''. The skills listed in the book range from the practical and interesting to extremely absurd. The tone of the books is very practical and direct. There is a no nonsense vibe going on a regular basis. And while you probably never need some of the skills, it is definitely worth buying for the vast majority and a bit of entertainment, if nothing else. It is worth noting that there are a ton of important pictures in the book. I bought this in book form, not e-book, and I'd be slightly concerned about how the pictures would work in e-book, so if you are considering e-book, look for a review of this format. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I recommend it to you. I hope this review helps you make your decision.
   Good read! Good price!
For the average person, this book is great. Some skills are unrealistic but still amusing to know. I enjoy the quick summaries and pictures ''. It is very easy to read and makes you very aware! Some skills are common sense, some are usefull. Other skills make you aware of your environment and the potential that other people have to hurt you. Found it very interesting how easy it is to open your hotel door, etc. Put it on your coffee table and your guests are guaranteed to pick it up! It is worth it for the price!
   Real good read
It is not filled with a bunch of common sense stuff that everyone knows already, like I expected. Instead, it was filled with tons of stuff that I did not know myself. Like how to break into a speaker and use it for spying or how to turn a garage door with a coat hanger into a microphone. I would recommend it definitely.
Great book! Interesting, and practical skills for any situation.
This is a great book. Glad that I bought it. It has techniques that not only apply to an operational situation, but are also useful in everyday situations. I was in the Navy, so the SEALS skills are interesting to me, although I did not have the mindset to try and get into the SEALS. This book is very clear, with illustrations and explanations that make these skills very practical for military or civilian use. If you're interested in survival or operative-type skills, I highly recommend this book.
   Easy interesting read
This book is an easy read, great and the illustrations are interesting. This won't necessarily make you an operative, but there are a lot of tips here that have made me look a little differently for the better at the world. For example, you can make a weapon out of a rolled news paper and a nail, but will probably never do this, but is fascinating. Basics of finding good cover and why, basics of knife fighting and a whole lot of other introductions to various skills you may not know. I give it 4 stars because I actually wish it was a little longer with slightly more explanations on a few things, but this is just a personal preference. Its an interesting read, something you don 't have to read cover to cover and can pick up whenever you want to read a few skills.
   Very valuable information here.
Very interesting and exactly as I thought it would be, very, very excellent. Some very valuable and useful insights into a world that most of us will never see, thank you Clint for your service and this book! !
Odd things to learn. That may never become useful.
It is a pretty old school book. This version contains a lot of strange, mostly useless info. Maybe some folks might benefit from knowing some skills and tricks that are rarely practical for any everyday purpose. I bought this book because I browsed this book years ago through a different version of this book and a day later... Some drunk guy was trying to choke me at a friends party... when I was escorting him out. Luckily, I saw what he was doing and managed to mitigate it. What a strange coincidence! What a weird coincidence! '' I guess it could be helpful in a weird circumstance, I guess. Anyway... yeah... don 't invite friends that can 't handle their liquor. Ok. Ok.
   No Way!
Ha! Ha! This book and its tips are more likely to kill you than not. If you think in 4 cartoon pictures, you learn to disarm someone, you are kidding yourself. Cell phone cameras also do not have night vision. In fact, they see worse than you do. That is just two. So much more stupidity. It borders irresponsible, as I'm afraid that someone will actually try it and kill themselves.
   Worse than useless
Spoiler Alert : If you fill a bottle with gasoline and put a rag in it, you can be arrested for arson. This and 99 even less useful Secrets ''.
