I chose this boat because it was different from the others I have read. It started out as a girl in New York City and then moved to the kings and queens and Zen queens around the late 1700 and 1800s. I finished this one and went on to read the second one, but I didn't know that the second one wasn't out yet. I don't like reading a series that isn't complete, that should be mentioned before you get into the series.

4.5 stars for slow burn fantasy romance. I have been a fan of KA Tucker for a long time, and I went into this book blind, but I think it was a completely new experience. The book brings the fantasy world to the contemporary world. The world building that an author has to do in the first book of a fantasy series is a huge undertaking. The reader is easily introduced to the world by KA Tucker. The author has a way with creating complex characters and writing them in a way that the reader can't help but love them. This is the first book in a series, and ends at a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to where she takes these characters and the world she has created!
