A love of synesthesia
Derived From Web , May 15, 2022
Hi my name is Star, my name is a very HOT pink. I also have synesthesia like Mia and I thought I was crazy, but after reading this book it opened my world and my life. I chose five stars because even if everyone calls synesthesia real, I know how it feels and I don 't care what they say, even though they don 't. I'm in the 8th grade and I take French it is so hard because my world is full of colors and my words have colors. Thank you Miss Wendy Mass, you have opened my eyes and I see the world more clear.

Exactly like synesthesia
Derived From Web , May 15, 2022
I think this was a very accurate way to portray synethesia, and I think this is exactly what it is like for me, except that I see the colors in my head, not surrounding me. She seems to think the same way I do, and the way she describes the sounds colors is just how it is - like a huge amount of noise is more annoying and overwhelming, but classical music is more calm and enjoyable. I tried listening to the music in the shower, and I don 't think the book gave it enough justice because it was too amazing for words. The author has certainly done her research.

A Mango Shaped Space
Derived From Web , May 15, 2022
I loved this book because I can really relate to Mia and her problems for girls my age. It is about a girl named Mia, who has something very strange about her. She sees in colors and hears. She has no idea what it means and she thinks at first that it is completely normal and that everyone sees it in this way. ... until a third grade mishap. Then she realizes it is just her cat Mango against the world.

Great book
Derived From Web , Feb 13, 2022
Synesthesia is fascinating and I liked to see Mia learn that she had it and was normal, even if her brain is different. But man, the climax of this is so sad.

Prologue promises great things, but...

Hanging things left, e.g. The effects of acupuncture on addiction. The voice of the major character is not consistent with a 13-year-old. Climax of book concerning a cat not convincing vis-Ã -vis the importance attributes by the author to it.

What a wonderful book!
Derived From Web , Aug 13, 2019
My granddaughter read it over the summer and told me that I just had to read it! Well, it is a wonderful story about a girl who sees colors and shapes when others see black and white numbers and letters and hear sounds without color. A heartwarming story about the love of a family.

Sooo sad but good
Derived From Web , Jun 18, 2019
Well, another great book by Wendy Mass is completed. She does such a great job of explaining synesthesia and my dyslexic daughter really loved connecting with a character that was unique like she is. It is impossible to fall in love with Mango. We had it all : There are lots of tears, but also lots of laughs. Written very well, this is very important.
