This book helped me a lot
Through it, I came to understanding meditation and the spiritual path, not as a way to live our lives or ourselves, but as a path toward healing that can help us to live with less suffering. It is especially helpful to understand that those whom we might regard as gurus or enlightened to deal with the issues of life, relationships, sorrow, loss, love, anger and hate. This book helped me change from being less goal-oriented about meditation and the spiritual path, and with this change there is less frustration and disappointment when I feel that I have failed to live up to some impossible standard. The techniques, especially that of not naming the sensations that arise during meditation and resisting the feeling, have really helped. I recommend this book highly to anyone who meditates or is interested in meditation.
   A guide for practical spirituality.
Contains very information about meditation and has also many meditation instructions. It will not be read by reading it or following the meditation scripts. The author covers traditional issues as well as more modern ones. It is a gentle guidebook for a more peaceful life.
   A Manual to Grow With
If you're familiar with Jack Kornfield's work, you may find this a great manual for developing meditative practice. I have been carrying it with me for over a year, and I still find helpful suggestions as things come up. I bought it as a beginner, but I put it aside and came back to it once my practice was more established. I must admit that I will probably never explore the original Buddhist texts, so I am grateful for a teacher who has done so and is willing to make their essence accessible. Kornfield is never condescending or obscure, which leaves me wanting to learn more in my case. There is humor, but an unblinking insistence that we continue.
   Great Book
Jack speaks in a clear language, easy to hear and if you listen to his talks at all, you will be able to hear his voice through the words he rights. When I follow the simple instructions in the book, I feel like it puts me in a better place. Jack, thank you for all the great work you do and bless your kind soul. Your podcast Heart Wisdom Hour '' is fantastic. Every podcast you have made with Duncan also brought me tears and spoke to me at a time and place where your message came through loud and clear.
   Real love
There are no words to explane this book. See yourself and discover for yourself. It is all about love, that kind of love we all so deeply long for.
   Insightful book
Jack Kornfield is a beautifully sensitive, knowledgable, and profound writer, and I continue to get a lot from his thoughts on spirituality. I gave this book as a gift so that it is for me!
   Diggin' Jack Kornfield ...
I was turned on to Jack Kornfield by Joe Frank... and it has taken me a longer time than I thought it would, but I love listening to his words and how he directs the meditation process. It was a relief to hear him do meditation, as I have always found it something I couldn t possibly slow down enough to hear. I started listening to these CDs in the car on the way to work and home - and I have to say that just doing that had a huge effect on me.
Do you buy a book ever because you think it might provide a semblance of peace and harmony in your life for a little longer? I ordered this book years ago and gave it to someone... Then I had it again and suddenly remembered why I gave it away. All Kornfield does is tell us how capitalistic we are, how we are doing everything wrong and how Buddha knows better in eastern countries than we do. This, all while he continues to write books with the same information over and over again for money.
I found this book simple and helpful
I received this as an audio book, but had to take a lot of notes so that I could remember things. I would say that this is best for someone who is already somewhat familiar with mindfulness or meditation or Buddhism. Otherwise, it might seem like a little hokey or weird. He was accessible about his path and his journey and it was humble. I don 't think that this is helpful for a more advanced Buddhist practitioner. I was pleased overall.
A guide through the spirtual world.
Jack Kornfield is a favorite Buddhist author and I consider this a classic. It was on my shelf for years and was not read deeply during that time. Recently, I paid it and reacquired it its proper due. For its caring tone it is highly recommended.
