There are shelves of memoirs about overcoming the death of a parent, childhood abuse, rape, drug addiction, miscarriage, alcoholism, hustling, gangbanging, near-death injuries, drug dealing, prostitution, or homelessness.
Cupcake Brown survived all these things before she'd even turned twenty. And that's when things got interesting. You have before you the strange, heart-wrenching, and exhilarating tale of a woman named Cupcake. It begins as the story of a girl orphaned twice over, once by the death of her mother and then again by a child welfare system that separated her from her stepfather and put her into the hands of an epically sadistic foster parent. But there comes a point in her preteen years--maybe it's the night she first tries to run away and is exposed to drugs, alcohol, and sex all at once--when Cupcake's story shifts from a tear-jerking tragedy to a dark comic blues opera. As Cupcake's troubles grow, so do her voice and spirit. Her gut-punch sense of humor and eye for the absurd, along with her outsized will, carry her through a fateful series of events that could easily have left her dead. Young Cupcake learned to survive by turning tricks, downing hard liquor, partying like a rock star, and ingesting every drug she could find while hitchhiking up and down the Read More chevron_rightIt takes about 13 Hours and 2 minutes on average for a reader to read A Piece Of Cake: A Memoir. I really like this book
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
The book is very good, and I really enjoyed the movie. It's heart-wrenching and angering, and I had to take a break from it every now and then, but it was awesome to read how she triumphed and overcame! She pushed through and preseved and God reached down and saved her, he said. He blessed her time and time again and surrounded her wan-wielding group of peeps that wouldn't let her give up! In her life, she found her true calling: to love God and to be free. It's hard to read what she went through but her testimony is so valuable, Mr. Karas said.

It's absolutely amazing what Cupcake Brown did with her life
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
It's absolutely amazing what a cupcake could do with her life, Tunick said. After years of mental, physical, sexual and drug abuse, she was led into rehab. She made good choices, had good coaches and believed in God, Hollingworth said. She had lots of willpower, strong coaches and colleagues that helped her stay on track and graduate from college and law school. She graduated from the top 10 percent of her law school class. Loved it, said Blair.

Bravo!!!
Derived From Web , Jan 29, 2022
A great writer, Robert Heinwall said. I was blown away by Cupcake Brown's story. Young women, especially those who think they have trouble, should read this. I'm impressed with Cupcake Brown's faith in God that got her through such difficult times, Beckham said. It was a struggle to get by the curse words but the reading was worth it in the end. If she went through, I'd give her a pass, because nobody else could get away with that, Mr. Rule told the judge.

Heart-wrenchingly inspiring
Derived From Web , Aug 5, 2020
It's a great story, made you laugh and cry. She went through so much in her life, but she was able to overcome it. Near the end of the interview, one officer predicted that Jennette Tamayo would do great things. He also wants to have more empathy for people with substance abuse disorder and understand the foster care system. She might not know it, but by spreading her experiences she is revolutionizing the minds of future social service workers, who will hopefully help future generations have better experiences.

This book is very good value for money. The book made me feel so many emotions. The audio version is also available in the AmazonBasics store. It's great to have the voice back, Levine said. It brought the book to life as if you were there to witness the spunky attitude, ups, downs, and turn around of Cupcake.

NOT A Piece of Cake to read.
Derived From Web , Jul 31, 2019
This was a very inspiring read, albeit wholly repetitive and lengthy. I'm also having a very hard time believing that some of the scenarios and events are exaggerated. A star rating of 3 or 4 would be considered average.

You will laugh, cry, laugh some more, be upset, and feel this Author's pain
Derived From Web , Jun 21, 2019
It's a sad book, don't get me wrong. But it is also hilarious, will make you cry and then laugh some more, you really feel the Author's pain in this book. At some points you will be horrified and at others you will be cheering. An amazing read, with a very inspiring ending. It has helped me through the years to think about her struggles and how she came out on top, said Blair.
