From A to Z, the Penguin Drop Caps series collects 26 unique hardcovers--featuring cover art by Jessica Hische

It all begins with a letter. Fall in love with Penguin Drop Caps, a new series of twenty-six collectible and hardcover editions, each with a type cover showcasing a gorgeously illustrated letter of the alphabet. In a design collaboration between Jessica Hische and Penguin Art Director Paul Buckley, the series features unique cover art by Hische, a superstar in the world of type design and illustration, whose work has appeared everywhere from Tiffany & Co. to Wes Anderson's recent film Moonrise Kingdom to Penguin's own bestsellers Committed and Rules of Civility. With exclusive designs that have never before appeared on Hische's hugely popular Daily Drop Cap blog, the Penguin Drop Caps series debuted with an 'A' for Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, a 'B' for Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, and a 'C' for Willa Cather's My Antonia. It continues with more perennial classics, perfect to give as elegant gifts or to showcase on your own shelves.

A number 3 on the top 100 novels of the English language--a bit hard to swallow
James Joyce is a master at prose-- particularly long, ' where in the world is this going' prose and what was the original thought? A book full of Irish Catholic angst was difficult to get through. Hopefully, it is better.

   Tantalizing and Pondering
James Joyce's novel is difficult to read because it takes multiple reads and analyses to understand where he is coming from and where he is going. I was told to read this book by an Irishwoman if I wanted to understand Ireland and the Irish. I accomplished something because I did finish it. Wishing you good luck.

   A must read
As always, Joyce is wonderful. Growing up Catholic in 1904 was not much different than it was in 1974. I think this is a great look into Joyce's mind. Enjoy the moment.

There is a reason why this book is a classic.
Who is going to judge James Joyce? I put this book off until I retired. I should have been aware of it. I have read thousands of books over the course of 75 years. Dubliners are even more brilliant than I followed. I have learned not to worry about every word's meaning, as I am halfway through the book. For a very good reason, Joyce is unique in 20 th century literature.

   An acquired taste
This is an easy and comfortable way to enjoy James Joyce's work, even if you can't handle it. It's kind of a coming of age story in which the autobiographical version of the author discovers that the convoluted and severe Catholicism of his youth falls apart when faced with the growing wisdom and maturity of real life. You will understand Joyce if you understand that sentence.
