   Okay book
The book we bought for our new child was tattered and had some writing in it. It is still very readable. The book has been told to her. Sometimes we feel hearing or reading from another source. Your parents are not the only ones talking. There were a few things we didn't agree with, but the book was good to add to her library.

   Age appropriate and clean advice.
I bought this for my daughters. I liked the advice. It is a good first lesson in dating that is appropriate for their age. We don't want them to worry about boys, but we can't keep them there forever. It's natural for them to be attracted to the opposite sex at that age. They don't have to be so nave because this gives them insight and knowledge. There was no reference to sex, just about the attraction and hormones, yada, yada.

   Great for preteens
I want to give it to my 12 year old. I was impressed with the overall message. It leaves specific dating ages and is something to talk about with parents. My 10 year old was the one who read the cover to cover, hoping it would help her understand her peers better. 9 years old seems young for this topic. Whenever they or their peers start having crushes, 10-13 is a good age.

Excellent for the 12 and over daughter
I'm not sure if I would give this one to a younger child, but there is a lot of information to share with younger girls. This book makes it easy to approach subjects that are awkward for girls to hear from a dad. American Girl books are well written and presented. My daughter loves them all and reads the books cover to cover. She reads them over and over again. Practical and real advice is presented in a way that a young lady wants to read. What else could you ask for? It's worth every penny.

Don't get this book! This book says some girls are beautiful and some are not.
The review comes from my daughter who is 8 years old and she is telling me not to read it. Girls don't get good ideas from it. How to stay on track and be true to yourself are some things it says. If you' re popular, you need to have a boyfriend who is popular, that's what they have in there. Not true at all. In my opinion, all girls are beautiful in their own way. Some girls are beautiful and some are not. Don't buy this book.

You've got to get this for your daughter!
My daughter requested this book after talking to me about a boy she liked in her class, and after reading a number of American Girl books. I ordered some for her friends because they were so interested in it. There are a number of situations that arise between girls and boys at this age. It is helpful for both girls and parents. Excellent advice and veryavy. If a situation is getting uncomfortable or not appropriate, it also addresses appropriate touch and when to talk to an adult. Highly Recommended! It's!

   Smart advice
There is a lot of advice for girls in this book. My daughter will be entering junior high next year and I purchased it for her. She knows that she can't have a boyfriend until she's older, but I wanted her to read the book now because she will be able to see many of the scenarios in the book. I wanted her to have this as a way to discuss things at home. I highly recommend this book.

A must have for girls just before middle school
My daughter is 10 yo. This book was empowering and straight forward. I didn't know how to talk to her in an appropriate way. It was informative, but not too much. It helped the awkward period of learning how to relate to boys. I liked the advice not to have a girlfriend talk to the boy. It did not promote inappropriate behavior but dealt with the emerging feelings and adjustments that occur.
