Areas essential to successful utilization of EMDR are emphasized. These include: case conceptualization; preparation for EMDR trauma processing, including resource development and installation; target development; methods for unblocking blocked processing, including the creative use of interweaves; and session closure. Case examples are used throughout to illustrate concepts. The emphasis in this book is on clinical usefulness, not research. This book goes into the therapy room with clinicians who actually use EMDR, and shows readers how to do it in practice, not just in theory. In short, this is the new, practical book on EMDR.

Content good- quality of the physical book- bad

The book is easy to understand and I would recommend it to anyone who is learning about it. A chunk of the book came off the spine after I opened it. This is a brand new book and I was upset because I was not using it as a football. The book itself was disappointing. The jacket and spine were badly damaged. Really disappointed. The quality of Lauren Parnell's writing is the only reason this got 3 stars. The Kindle version is for sale. It can't come crushed and ripped as soon as you start to read it.

A must have for any EMDR Therapist
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
This is the book that I would recommend starting with if you' re just getting started. Parnell has the ability to translate theory into practice for real clients in a way that is easy to understand and keeps with the foundations of treatment. I attended a two day training with Parnell and even for those of us who have been using EMDR theory in our practice, she offered many useful advanced techniques. If you have been using EMDR, this book is a great primer and helps clarify many of the basic concepts in a way that is useful in practice for many of my clients. I wish I had found Parnell's books earlier on in my training, I think it would have made my application of EMDR treatment so much stronger when I first started!

Excellent! Must read for any EMDR practitioner
Derived From Web , Oct 18, 2018
I recently received basic training and wanted more resources to feel confident using it. This book is easy to read and detailed enough to give beginning practitioners more information on how to use EMDR safely with a variety of clients. The book gives instructions on how to work with clients. No book can replace good training and supervision, but it is an important addition to the library. Parnell has a book called Transforming Trauma EMDR.
