Book Overview

One bad day. Freed once again from the confines of Arkham Asylum, The Joker is out to prove a deranged point. And he's going to use Gotham City's top cop, commissioner Jim Gordon, and his brilliant daughter Barbara (a.k.a. Batgirl) to do it. Now Batman must race to stop his archnemesis before his reign of terror claims two of the Dark Knight's closest friends.

Critically acclaimed writer Alan Moore redefined the superhero with Watchmen and V for Vendetta. In Batman: The Killing Joke, he takes on the origin of comics' greatest super-villain, The Joker, and changes Batman's world forever.

Absolute Batman: The Killing Joke (30th Anniversary Edition) includes both the recolored art by artist Brian Bolland and the original colors by John Higgins, along with the never-before-published scripts, and numerous Batman and Joker sketches and stories by Bolland.

Collects Batman: Black and White #4; Batman: The Killing Joke; Countdown #31; Cover Story: The DC Comics Art of Brian Bolland; Joker: Last Laugh #1, #6; Joker's Greatest Stories Ever Told; Who's Who in the DC Universe #13 and Wonder Woman #96.

   Revisionism = Wrong
Took off one star because the original version of the novel should have been placed on the front page, not the version with revisionist colors later done. The original was beautiful and authentic, the latter cookie-cutter and bland. Surprise '' I am surprised they included the original colors at all, the way DC comics seems to act like they never existed in all other published versions, which are available.

   BEST VERSION OF TKJ EVER!
I am very glad that I bought a copy of BATMAN ABSOLUTE THE KILLING JOKE. I have viewed this story several times over the years and it has never been so delightful to read and enjoy as it is presented here. I love the fact that they had an original color done by Brian Bolland and the new colors as well. The hardcover edition is beautiful and huge to look at. It looks great with my graphic novel collection and I can not recommend it enough! If you are on the fence about buying it, I assure you that it is totally worth it and you won 't be disappointed! DC has done an awesome job! A+++++ :

   Just buy it
It's the killing joke in a modern format and the older format with the older style pages. The colors are so well done its mind blowing. The amount of extras... honestly, you need this in your collection if you like the killing joke.

   Awesome!!
This is easily the best version of TKJ, so if you read it for the 100th time or the 1st time, make sure it is this version because Brian Bollands art looks absolutely amazing in this format.
