Such a fantastic series!

I have loved the Wayward Children series and this latest book was excited to get to. While it was not my Fav in the series, it is still such an excellent series that I have a hard time judging each book separately. This was less dark than some of the other books, in this Regan travels to the fantastical world of The Hooflands. It is full of equine fantastical creatures, unicorns, centaurs, kelps, etc. I loved the message that all these books are carrying... there is no right way '' to be. In this article, Regan struggles with her identity and I thought the conversation about it was very interesting and well done. There is no right way to be a girl, and I enjoyed her journey into the Hooflands. I miss the other characters and hope that in the coming books we see them reconnect with their journeys again.

. more pages. *sobs at how fast I read this book* Regan's story takes us through another door, to an unknown world, teaching us that we never needed a savor in the first place. We just needed to take a deep breath, analyze the situation and save our own damn selves. It was magical and excited. Full of character growth and self-actualization. When each of these books is done, these children who would have been bullies, abused or neglected are brighter than they ever would have lived in our modern day society. The series is a testament to how every person has value and a place in this world. We need to be kind just. Note the intersex character. Trigger Warnings is Bullying.

An intersex heroine forced into a rigid gender mold finds Hoofland.
Derived From Web , Jan 29, 2021
Across the Green Grass Fields by Seanan McGuire, This is a YA story with an intersex heroine who is forced by her social group at school into a rigid gender mold. She really wants to conform and be accepted, but her physical differences are noticed and her “best friend †rejects her. She escapes her scorn and finds herself in Hoofland, a world where she is accepted and her physical differences are considered typical human traits. However, here she is expected to save the world, as all humans who appear in this land must before vanishing into an unknown fate. She accepts her new role out of love for her heroic land and family. Themes of this story run heavily towards what defines a person and what physical differences really mean : how we define ourselves as people and how some people punish and reject those who don 't fit their narrow definitions.

Books in this series cost way too much for what they are....
Derived From Web , Jan 17, 2021
Don 't get me wrong. I love Seanan's writing, characters and worlds across all her various series. The two stars have nothing to do with the quality of the story, but the books in this series are WAY too expensive for what they are. It is true that anything under 200 pages is a novel, not a novel. And yet her publisher for this series keeps the charges as though they were novels. $11 for an electronic book which has no printing costs and no management costs for inventory is just pure greed on the part of her publisher. Her other series are longer than the average Wayward children's stories and better priced, unless the next book is either less expensive or longer.
