Thanks to the author, I feel so grateful for the wisdom she shares in this book. I am a few months from a big birthday and am taking time to reflect on how I will engage fully and realistically in this final quarter of my life. As a fellow spiritual director, I am confident that what I gathered from this book will also assist me as I companion others as they enter life past midlife. She emphasized that couples often approach aging and retirement from different and distinct vantage points, and there is no "one size, fits all" or "one size fits most" when it comes to matters of aging, retirement and even how we engage with elderly parents. I highly recommend this book to anyone who reads it. Amazon also offers a free digital review copy of the book. The opinion expressed here is my honest review of the book.

Simple and life-giving

As she puts it, "Alice does an incredible job of walking through the process of aging in a faithful, real way." This book will be a hit with many. Such spiritual encouragement for ages to not only understand those they love in the later seasons of life, but also those of us moving in that direction! We love you, Kimbo.

What a special gift
Derived From Web , Feb 6, 2022
I've read all the books, but this is by far the best. Older people can feel like their life is meaningless in the eyes of others and the world in general. The book brings a beautiful, refreshing and biblical perspective to aging. I feel like I know Alice as a friend talking at the kitchen table about life and aging from God's perspective. So genuine, honest and relatable, Graham said. Thanks for taking the time to write this, which is a gift to so many!

Way more religious than I expected

I was hoping for some practical advice with a religious perspective, Raymond said. This is not a book. Virtually every paragraph has some form of God or Jesus in it. Even if you're not looking for that exact thing, that's totally OK.

I've enjoyed reading this book and found it refreshing and honest, Morgenthau said. The main theme of this book was moving from productivity to fruitfulness, which I think resonates with my current season of life.

We tend to focus on losses as we age. In her book, "The Hidden Blessings," Fryling writes about the many joys of aging.

You feel so happy, but you don't know how to say it. It's all new territory and brings with it both exhilaration and fear, Bruno said. I've gained insight in new ways about the last quarter of my life, he said.
