Book Overview

Celebrating the astounding creativity and originality of designer Alexander McQueen, who relentlessly questioned and confronted the requisites of fashion

An authoritative and moving insight into the legacy of the British designer.--Carola Long, Financial Times

McQueen's brilliance is celebrated in this sumptuous tome.--Harper's Bazaar

Excellent.--Huffington Post

Arguably the most influential, imaginative, and provocative designer of his generation, Alexander McQueen both challenged and expanded fashion conventions to express ideas about race, class, sexuality, religion, and the environment. Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty examines the full breadth of the designer's career, from the start of his fledgling label to the triumphs of his own world-renowned London house. It features his most iconic and radical designs, revealing how McQueen adapted and combined the fundamentals of Savile Row tailoring, the specialized techniques of haute couture, and technological innovation to achieve his distinctive aesthetic. It also focuses on the highly sophisticated narrative structures underpinning his collections and extravagant runway presentations, with their echoes of avant-garde installation and performance art.

   Amazing and Inspiring...
I love Alexander McQueen, and I have an immense amount of respect for him and for his work, Taylor said. Robinson's death was a tragedy, but his creativity will never be lost. I have never met a book that was so good. The reference in that back is also great because it allows you to understand what you like and what pieces are favorites, Ms. Booher said. I also would like to point out that this book is great in part because it was not built around the expectation that you saw the exhibit, but rather, it was built to be a tribute to McQueen in general. Great product, great price, and fast shipping.
I also recommend "Champagne Supernova" that describes something about McQueen life
If you are interested in McQueen's work this book is for you. He also recommended that people who love champagne should try out Champagne Supernova. The world needs more people like McQueen and other great artists, Moore said.
almost as good as going to the exhibit
beautiful book with a stunning cover - quotes give the sense that maybe mcqueen wasn't our greatest intellectual mind, but my god those clothes D made a great gift for someone who i wished i could take back in time to go see this at the met, it's not quite the same experience, but the line's a lot shorter, she said.
second best thing to the exhibit!
Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty opened at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night. It was one of the best exhibits I've seen in my life and I'll be back again. The Amazon copy was just like the ones sold in the museum gift shop, except that it was a true bargain. Amazon says it sells over 1 million books a month. This is the ultimate cocktail table book, except that it will never stay on the table. The Web site said people devoured the entire contents.
   Magnificent Book
It's great to have such a great product, said Jennette. The book is full of wonderful images and excellent histories of the great designer.
   Ingenius McQueen
Even if you're not a fan of the Beatles, Mr. McQueen is an absolutely entertaining book of course. If you love his tile of avantgarde, over the top, whimsical, beautiful and visually impacting, then this book is a must. The original was sold to the French Connection for $1.8 million in 1960, according to the Web site of the Great Designer. Home Forums Discuss Media Center News What's new?

   Buy this!!
Absolutely loved this book. It is so cool, I have gotten so many comments about it, I cannot put it into words. If you're an AM fan, this is a MUST have. The whole thing is a parody, but the graphic designs are insane.
Can't Really Capture the Dopeness in a Pic!
Really high quality, heavy, and gorgeous pictures! The cover is EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! If you collect, you HAVE to have this one and the Tom Ford book, "Persuasion."
Awesome addition to our other coffee table books
The covers give our coffee table that extra point of interest.
