Poor Alexander He woke up with gum in his hair; his mom forgot to put dessert in his lunch bag; there were lima beans for dinner, and kissing on TV -- even the cat refuses to sleep in his bed. Some days are just like that.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst
My grandson started kindergarten. He responds quickly to things that can get him in trouble. There are consequences to Alexander's actions if you read this book about him. Let's talk book for little people and have a quick response button.

   Great book for little ones
I bought Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day to read to my girls at night. The book is illustrated beautifully. The book was a nice size with quality weight paper pages, and my girls loved it. I think the little ones can relate to the bad things that happen to Alexander in the book, and it's a nice way to let them know that sometimes their grumpy feelings are normal. One of our favorite nightly stories is this one, and they always ask for it.

Students having a bad day would go in to the library and she ...
I was employed in a high school. This book was in the school library. When students were having a bad day, she would tell them to sit down and relax, and then give them a book to read. From the boy who didn't make the team, to the girl whose boyfriend broke up with her, to the student who just blew a test or had a bad day, she would make the student comfortable and have them read this book. Within a few minutes, the student sitting quietly reading this book would be happy. My Grandson broke his arm and elbow when he fell off the swing at school, so I got him a book. He loved it and he is 8. The world wasn't such a bad place after all, as he giggled all through it.

Lighten up! Didn't you ever have one of those days?
A friend gave this to me after I had a terrible day. We all got a big kick out of it, and could relate to it as young adults. I read a few reviews that said the book was negative and that our children were taught to complain. If a book like this warps a child, the parents have bigger things to worry about and maybe they need a vacation. It is enjoyable by all ages.

It's okay to have a bad day!
A classic book! My girls love this book. They tell me that my 2 year old is having a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day whenever she is not feeling up to par. They seem to have agreed that this is how it is, but not sure why it is only the 2 year old who has these days. The 4 year old only has good days.

One of my favorite childrens books.
Years ago, I stumbled across this book when my daughter felt life was unfair. She was able to see another child having a bad day thanks to the book. It shows a boy having a worse day than her. channels of communication were opened up. We cited the title whenever things were difficult after reading the book regulary. My children, grandchildren, and friends children love this book. I sent it to a relative. It was easy to translate the story line to her son. He loves it! Buy it. Enjoy it with your child.

Seemed good when I was little, now I see it’s not
It was a childhood favorite. I just read it to my children and they did not like it. The 4 year old asked for the good day version. My daughter said I needed to buy a new book for her because it was bad. My son said it was terrible. It is sad, but I don't remember it being that way when I was a kid. This is not a happy ending book for your kids. I need to look for another book.

   Great message
After a 7 year old had a bad day, I bought this book. He got it after we read it together. He looked at me with a huge smile when we finished the book. This is a good recommendation for early elementary adages.

Don't waste your money on this one!!
What a sad commentary on a child's book. The stupidity of the story was something that my husband couldn't believe. It came highly recommended and I thought he must be wrong. My husband was right when he said it was stupid. It's about a boy who wants to be miserable. If this is a good example of her writing talent, this author isn't impressive. I don't see any writing talent at all, it's just a big price tag for the book. It is!
