This is a great book for anyone to use especially children
This is a great book for anyone, especially children. My daughters understanding of music has greatly helped by following. It is not just about playing the notes. The way it is presented is very helpful to any age. This book should be received greatly help you or your children.

Huge jump between Book 1 and Book 2
I am a former music teacher and now a private piano instructor. I am very happy with what is included in this book, but it is MUCH more advanced than Book 1. If they are not ready to put some new thought and study in to this real material, it will be way over their heads. I'd suggest teacher-chosen worksheets to cement what they learned in book 1.

Very good books for teaching yourself
I decided to start with jazz piano and not having any background in music, so I learned Book 1 of this series. Within a surprisingly short time, the books build up a foundational knowledge. Depending on one's aptitude for the particular section, I 'd say that pacing is usually well balanced. I also found it helpful to build up knowledge and reinforce skills using a few iPad apps for music - sight reading. One negative note about the first two books : I found the ear-training exercises to be quite above my level, but a necessity.

Learning music theory! Really learning it!
We end-up having to homeschool during the Pandemic, and I gave Hubby the job of teaching music theory to our daughter who takes piano lessons at Zoom. Hubby is learning, and they listen to the examples on the web, and it's a great way to kill an hour of schoolweek. I have no idea what is a Terpsichord, but my 12 yo daughter does, and she can explain it to you.

A must for learning/teaching music theory
This theory book is so well organized and ideal for high school students, I teach. It helps me to break the theory into manageable pieces. SO much love these books!
