A valuable addition to climate writing from underheard voices
The greatest value of this book is the diversity of female voices writing on climate, he said. I regret I purchased this book on Kindle, rather than a printed edition. Some entries in this anthology will speak more strongly to a given reader than others. In this case, I think this is heightened because of both the political and tonal range of the essays, and I feel certain almost everyone will find something that speaks deeply to them and something that leaves them cold, he said. A physical edition would be cheaper, allowing for more personalization. There are also some unexplained oddities in the printed page layout that may make more sense when viewed from the rear view.
Some parts are very good but some are seriously flawed
Some of the chapters were inspirational and provided additional information I had not known. Some were more basic or even had errors. The report estimated that by the end of the century, there would be 200 million displaced by climate change. What's more, the kid is apparently allergic? By 2050, the World Health Organisation estimates that between 100,000 and 143 million people will be displaced. By the end of the century, the Carnegie Institute estimates that 1 billion people will have died. I did a quick search and came up with the numbers. Another writer quoted extensively from the earlier book, although I found no reference to the entire 143 million. The two newspapers should have noted the serious discrepancy between the front and back pages. One of the best-selling books of all time, credited Thomas Edison with promoting wind and solar power. It would have been appropriate to have credited the earlier installation, Mr. Dhaliwal said.
Full of facts, insights, and fresh angles
It's just that much more. It's new terrain, at least for me. I love the poetry, and the specific, even localized essays, Raymond said. This is a great read, Gillian.
   Simply Brilliant and Comforting
The reader is not the only one who enters the story with insight and comfort. There are a cadre of female climate leaders quiety and not so quietly taking charge to protect our earth, they say.
Read this book, then help save all we can
This collection of works by women is a great introduction for people new to climate change issues and an invitation to go deeper to those already engaged. Together, the essays and poems will inspire, motivate, and call to action. I have spent the time reading the books.
Elevated My Whole Perspective on the Environment
The book is highly informative, insightful and inspiring, Raymond said. The editors found such a powerful balance of writers to take on the many sides of the climate discussion from the policy to racial injustice elevating the entire movement as a result. I've never been more committed to doing my part, Mr. Kennedy said in the statement.
   Was skeptical but it’s brilliant
Brilliant book - so glad I read it because it was uplifting, hopeful, and a joy to read, Mary. I was skeptical at first because I'm not that into poetry, but everything flows well together and there is lots of engaging storytelling, he said. It's easy to skip between chapters because each is its own story and because the editors have highlighted key portions with dots in the margins. Def recommend to anyone who has wondered what we can do about climate change, how we build communities, or what examples of feminine leadership can look like.
   Fantastic, hopeful, inspiring collection!
Even with time, climate change will take its toll. Even with time, there is still so much we can do, he said. The new collection of works by 60 women working on climate change was launched at the United Nations last week. There is an art form, poetry, inspiring stories. I felt like we could tackle this problem after reading the book. If you are freaked out and want to know what we can do talk about climate change in our daily lives, change policy, support independent climate journalists, write to our representatives, take to the streets. There is so much left to save, Kerry said. Inspiring quotes from Walt Whitman.
