   Easy to follow recipes
I've enjoyed reading the history of many of the recipes. He also provided some great information on where you can get some of the specialty ingredients that are needed for making your product.

   Great Book
My daughter wanted to learn how to cook the food that i had made while she was growing up. And she was excited to look through it and read the stories, too. She's not a huge meat eater, but she loves to cook different types of food. And she loved it, so much so that she kept coming back for more.

Thanks for the book and for sharing your recipes. There are numerous cookbooks marked with star aniseed. A taste of Hawaii.

   Pure Joy
After friends kept posting their food conquests attributed to this cookbook, I was sold. For years, I've been Googled and Pinteresting Hawaiian style recipes and this book literally covers all of the classics I've searched for. They call it: mochiko chicken, portugese bean soup. Well, first you know that scene in Ratattouli where the food critic takes a bite of Remi's food and he gets transported back to a childhood memory? Yes, I have read that book. Not only are the recipes and easy to follow, but one taste transports you back to a fond memory growing up in Hawaii. If you didn't get to grow up in Hawaii with this book, now you can. Well, first of all, I know what everyone is getting for Christmas this year.

   Beautiful, thank you
This book captures so much about Hawaii—the confluence of so many cultures over the years, some history, the beauty and a sense of place with the people, he said. There are a lot of Hawaii cookbooks filled with Merriman's, et al. recipes, which are not accessible, contain rarefied ingredients, and are very touristy. Thanks for the book, Claudia. Thanks for the opportunity, Alana.

   Beautiful and approachable
I actually purchased the cookbook on a whim, said Jennette Tamayo, a spokeswoman for the magazine. I had been following her blog for a while but this cookbook actually performs stronger than her blog in terms of the way the recipes are laid out and selected, McBride said. Easy to follow, the recipes are approachable and include step-by-step instructions. Still, photography is of course amazing. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone that doesn't have to be an Island-food enthusiastic!

   Beautiful
This book is a treasure trove of Hawaiian recipes. There are no shortages of Japanese food, from shoyu chicken to macaroni salad to guava cake. One of my fondest memories is being invited by a local family to join them for a lunch of beef teriyaki and white rice on the beach. Memories are made all that much better by this cookbook.
