The story of the internationally famous Mission Inn Hotel, and its predecessor, has been intertwined with the city of Riverside s history since both began. As the slogan once said, Riverside is a City with a Mission Inn its Heart. For more than a century, the Mission Inn and its eclectic collections have intrigued visitors, artisans, architects, and dignitaries who have come to Riverside for a myriad of reasons. The Mission Inn, founded by colorful entrepreneur Frank Miller, was integral to the city s turn-of-the-20th-century tourism as wealthy Easterners flocked to Riverside and its famous hotel, lured by a Mediterranean climate, investment opportunities, and vast navel orange groves. Unlike other grand hotels of the time, the Mission Inn, with its Mission style architecture, was a luxury hotel that was uniquely Californian.

Powerful suspense — a 2021 favorite!
Derived From Web , Jan 15, 2022
I've read all the books, but this was by far the best. It made me smile to hear the connection to Island of the Blue Dolphins, which my teacher read out loud to my 6th grade class many years ago. Realizing how powerful that was for me, I vowed to keep finding time to read aloud to my students. This book is perfect for my middle school students. I love novels in verse because they are accessible to all reading levels, said Barbara Comstock, co-founder of the book club.

I was hooked… and then disappointed
Derived From Web , Oct 10, 2021
The book is so good, I recommend it to anyone. I read it very quickly and the issues that the girl goes through are real and relatable, Morgenthau said. I was intrigued by the threat that kept her separated from everyone else, I kept reading to find out what it could possibly be, she said. I felt like the ending didn't match the rest of the book. Only a few of the readers will disagree with Mr. Powell's assessment of this book.

My teacher did a good talk about the book and it made me want to read it. I couldn't put it down. It's a very emotianal story and I really love goerge, the Rottweiler, Taylor said. If you like hatchets or any survival books then you should definitely read this.

It's a smash hit with middle school kids. This is a book readers will return to again and again. A survival tale centering on a young girl's worst fear, it depicts a child's worst fear come to life being left behind. I'm thrilled to be working with such a talented writer, and I'll be sure to pick up her next book!

Oh my!!!!!!!!! My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. My. Gosh, that was pretty impressive. I was holding my multiple times breath while reading this book and realized I needed to breathe. I'm not a huge fan of dystopian fiction. I feel like this one was written in verse and helped hold my interest, he said. Maddie is 12. She attends school in the Kirkwood neighborhood. Her parents are divorced and she and a couple friends make a plan to sleepover at her grandparents' summer apartment without the parents knowing. The plan falls through and Maddie ends up staying at the apartment overnight by herself. The town hall and police station have completely evacuated. Except for the nurse, no one else. I won't give away the end but I felt it was a little rushed and left me with some questions, he said. In "The Fall," Jessica must find a way to survive alone. A great debut novelist.

Great addition to the novel in verse genre!

Wow! That was pretty impressive, right? I was making sure it was appropriate for my students, he said. A great character, Hepburn said. The novel in verse needed this expansion, he said. There is one scene that might be upsetting to younger students, so make sure you preview it first.
