My granddaughter likes being read to. Her parents borrow books from the library. We have to re read her favorites constantly. The Elephant and Piggie series is one of her favorites. It would be nice to have the anthology at our house.

BIG collection of five classic Elephant and Piggie stories

Modern classics include the Elephant and Piggie stories. The series is the gateway drug to literacy, and I worked as a children's librarian for many years. I bought the three volumes for our roofer to give to his children. It's convenient to have five books in a single volume, but each one is heavy and intimidating for small hands, and may be hard to hold. Five stars, definitely, for this superb series, but consider purchasing the original, separate copies for young readers, in classic beginning reader size, instead of the thick collections.

Nothing for Preschool Kids

Not a fan. I'm not sure why these books are popular, but it's not for younger kids. Two or three short words per page is what it is. This book was recommended to me by a friend. I have a degree in childhood development and education and have been in the field for 20 years, but I can't find any value in these stories. It wasn't for my preschool child, even though the illustrations and words might be funny to older kids. He didn't like the pictures that he found and didn't want to read any of the books. I'm going to send it back, and I'm quite disappointed.
