Book Overview

Discover the intimate details of life under the pharaohs--and their extraordinary legacy--in this fascinating guide to Egypt's ancient civilization.

Encompassing 3,000 years and 31 Egyptian dynasties, from the time of Narmer to Cleopatra, this fresh appraisal of ancient treasures helps you navigate the political intrigues and cultural achievements of the Ancient Egyptians, from the Pyramids and the Sphinx of Giza to the Great Library and Lighthouse of Alexandria.

You'll meet pharaohs such as King Tutankhamun--whose mummified remains and lavish grave goods reveal so much about the society and its beliefs--as well as influential women such as Hatshepsut and Nefertiti, and warriors including Alexander the Great. Lavish photographs reveal the exquisite craftsmanship of their scribes, artists, and metalworkers, and the tomb paintings and relief carvings that captured the everyday life of farmers, artisans, soldiers, and traders in exquisite detail. Exclusive CGI reconstructions use the latest scientific information to recreate the finest tombs, temples, and pyramids.

Beautifully illustrated, and unparalleled in scope, Ancient Egypt is the perfect book for anyone with an interest in ancient civilizations and Egyptology.

   Beautiful book with great visuals
Television images could not be loaded. The book combines thousands of great images with the text, facts and curiosities of ancient Egypt. It's great to hear so many good things about it.

Ideal gift for anyone interested in ancient Egypt
Brand new in perfect condition for our 17 year old grandson. We enjoyed looking through it before wrapping, Mr. Dhaliwal said. The quality of the tape is second to none.

   Scratch on the cover
The book arrived today with a scratch on the cover as well as some minor wear and tear to the spine panels. The customer service was terrible, too bad I bought this as a present.

   A beautiful and fascinating book!
This book is very handsome and will look great sitting on a table, he said. It doesn't have a dust jacket, but the cover is a very nice blue linen with gold embossing. The endpapers are also gold. The book is printed on glossy, medium-weight paper and feels very good in your hands. The book is endlessly fascinating, even to the point where we can't stop talking about it. The book, which was originally titled "Egypt: The History of the Roman Empire," includes dozens of articles on various Egyptian history. Each chapter has clearly designated which one is responsible for which part of the book. The book is very well placed on the pages with photographs and drawings. The layout is very easy on your eye, and also very inviting to read, he said. The book is also very readable, notes Pauley. It is written for a history enthusiast rather than a history student. It's very enjoyable reading and truly fascinating history, too. I didn't even realize it was a Doring Kindersley book until I saw the DK in the front. A great book, Gillian. I love the new logo, too.

   Stunning and Comprehensive
Amazon also sells an e-book version of the book. The book is truly beautiful, said Gillian Clark, director of the National Book Foundation. The images are outstanding, and the writing and explanations are extremely interesting and full of cool knowledge I had not heard of before. It makes one revisit the Egyptian section at the Metropolitan Museum of London with a new view and understanding of how incredible ancient Egypt was. Could you possibly produce a similar volume on ancient Greece, and perhaps another on the Roman Empire? Thanks for the support!

   A grand tour of Egypt
I can't put this book down as a lover of ancient Egypt. The diagrams are informative and history of the pharaohs and queens is well worth the price of admission.
