Schoolyard rivalries. Baking disasters. Puffed sleeves. Explore the violet vales and glorious green of Avonlea in this spirited adaptation.

The spirit of Anne is alive and well in Mariah Marsden's crisp adaptation, and it's a thrill to watch as the beloved orphan rushes headlong through Brenna Thummler's heavenly landscapes. Together Marsden and Thummler conjure all the magic and beauty of Green Gables. Like Anne herself, you won't want to leave.
-- Brian Selznick, author/illustrator of The Invention of Hugo Cabret and The Marvels

The magic of L.M. Montgomery's treasured classic is reimagined in a whimsically-illustrated graphic novel adaptation perfect for newcomers and kindred spirits alike.

When Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan who can help manage their family farm, they have no idea what delightful trouble awaits them. With flame-red hair and an unstoppable imagination, 11-year-old Anne Shirley takes Green Gables by storm.

Anne's misadventures bring a little romance to the lives of everyone she meets: her bosom friend, Diana Barry; the town gossip, Mrs. Lynde; and that infuriating tease, Gilbert Blythe. From triumphs and thrills to the depths of despair, Anne turns each everyday moment into something extraordinary.

   Good book
His show is full of lovable people all ages. I hope the whole family enjoys it. Anne Hathaway is a witty, charming and slightly irreverent New York writer who also happens to be Jewish. It's great to see a lot of good people working on this book.

   Beautifully done artistic and accurate
This is an excellent, and beautifully done representation of a well-known story. The "page where its not possible to read all the text" is meant to be that way. The French are using the technique to show that Anne has a tendency to talk to the point of distraction. The artist was trying to draw attention to herself while her friend was speaking. It's not important what Anne was talking about, only that her friend accidentally drank wine instead of raspberry cordial, and subsequently got drunk, she said. Only in the book's second half, does the over-the-top cover come into play. It's just that Microsoft had no intention of hurting anybody."

Great Adaptation as an Introduction to Anne
My 8-year-old has fallen in love with graphic novels, but I wanted to lure her back into some traditional books and characters as she is a voracious reader. It was a great segué back to traditional reading it's the characters and we know and love along with beautiful artwork, but without the older style that might be prohibitive to young or impatient readers. My daughter's interest was piqued by this novel and she is now interested in the traditional books because she was so drawn to Anne and wants more of her. For those who complained about not being able to see the words for the pictures that was a style choice meant to show Anne's oblivious prattle in the background as Diana overindulged in the "raspberry cordial" in the foreground. It may be necessary for some readers unfamiliar with graphic novel book storytelling to understand the mechanics of the story.

The illustrations and words together are wonderful.
It was my first book, and I've had many, many, years to read it. As a kid, I've adored Anne of Greene Gables and even read the rest of the series. My daughter is a second-grader and she is a reader. She also illustrated 25 books, most of them graphic novels. I am trying to gently urge her to also read novels without pictures, Mr. Rule told the judge. The story is told in a witty, yet technically difficult, manner. In fact, I think Harper probably read the entire book in one sitting. In her testimony, Kate said she absolutely loved and loved it. She is currently working on a unit in School about what we can learn from the past because Anne is a fictional character the world she was created in was very much how early Americans lived. I am hoping that the writers of the Avonlea graphic novels will do another one.

   Pictures cover up the words
I'm a huge fan of the idea of books being put into the format of a graphic novel. I purchased this version of Anne of Green Gables for the library, and the students complain that the pictures cover up the words on so many of the pages that it is frustrating to try to read the story. He added that the Supreme Court did not address the merits of the case.

   Great edition
This is a great introduction to a great literary heroine for girls whose reading levels are not up to the novel yet. This book has really touched my 7 year old.

   Perfect For a Special Grandchild
My granddaughter is a free spirit who is a math whiz but prefers reading pictures. I initially refused to buy her comic books but later discovered she also has a soft spot for graphic novels. This is a wonderful story and the perfect way to get to read it.

   So so lovely!
I absolutely love Anne Green Gables and don't feel you can have too many versions of the story. I look forward to my children growing up with her and loving her too, said Blair. The work is simply beautiful, said Jackson. You can tell the girls who created it love Girl too!

   My daughter loves this book!
We suspect that she may have dyslexia, her biological mother said. She has always found reading difficult, and she doesn't generally want to read children's books anymore, but is daunted by traditional chapter books. My daughter loves it, and I am so happy to be able to share this timeless story with her in a format that she can appreciate, Raymond said. The original text is.. However, the new one is. Overall, I didn't love every aspect of the book, but overall, the illustrations were very well done and some were truly lovely.

   Most lovely graphic novel
Adaptable and I normally will have nothing to do with adaptations of classics, he said. It's just that, in this day and age, nobody tinkers with the real thing. This is an exceptional graphic adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. It's beautiful work, said Paul LiCalsi, executive director of music for AOL Europe. She and I both took turns reading it to one another. I didn't want it to end but was looking forward to the next one, he said. He also expressed dismay at the fact that there is not any other book or any other graphic novel by this duo. I cried a little bit, she said.
