Book Overview

Archetypes are ancient, universal patterns of behavior that are embedded in what Carl Jung called the collective unconscious. Caroline Myss has created a unique set of 80 Archetype Cards, each individually designed to provide the basic Light and Shadow Attributes of a different Archetype. The deck also contains six blank cards on which you can create your own Archetypes.

The deck comes with an instruction booklet explaining how to use the cards to help determine which Archetypes are most active in your psyche, and how they can lead you to achieve greater insights into your life. The deck is suitable to be used by itself, in conjunction with Caroline's book Sacred Contracts, or with any of her workshops and seminars.

   Great writing tool!
The original PowerBook was originally sold at $50, but Amazon said it would be cheaper today. It works really well with fiction or nonfiction writers, too. Then I end up with lots of pieces that can become larger works of art. I think it will be part of a writing group that I am forming, he said.

   Oddly Great for Writers
I love the matching envelopes, the rhinestones and the skulls. I study character archetypes and these are so much better than anything else I've come across.

Awesome for Writers of Any Type
It was one of the best purchases I've ever made. Great way to think up fun story ideas, or even add to your existing cast of characters.

   Caroline Myss archetype cards
I can't get over my good luck in finding them at Amazon. com. I was also scared I would have to make my own. by some rare luck, I found them advertised at the same time I found the book. I love these cards and will treasure them all.

   Happy with this purchase!
I love the way they make you feel so happy working with them, Bruno said. For more information on the archetypes, go to Caroline Myss's website.

   Jung Wept.
As a student of Archetypal psychology, I had hoped these cards would be useful in my practice, however the presented archetypes and their related traits and examples are completely off base.

These cards cover almost ALL the personalities.
Wow! That was pretty impressive, right? Note the numbers: These are the only two sets of cards that cover all the personalities. And if it doesn't, there are six additional blank cards available for you to fill in if so desired. Even with the help of a deck of cards, players can shuffle cards fairly easily. There are just a LOT of them left to sift through. One thing I like about these cards is that they give me a little bit of character development for stories I write. You can see the entire deck flip through on my YT channel.

   Really Good For Introspection
This is a great deck to use for any kind of reader, tarot reader, or even just for a psychologist. I intend to use them in my psychology practice because the archetypes always relate to people's psychology, Raymond said. Each card has an archetype. What we're describing is some kind of deep introspective element that represents certain life struggles that can enhance a patient's ability to grow and learn from a situation, Levine said. The cards were designed by Caroline Myss, a great novelist. Great description of each card, tons of choices. One of my all time favorite decks.

Useful for understanding internal dynamics (but not really as oracle cards)
These are great way to learn about the variety of archetypes that operate in each person's psyche and social behavior, like flashcards. The artwork is beautiful, and I love it as a quick reference to the light and shadow sides of the given archetypes. I will say, though, that I have supplemented some with additional sentences because the descriptions are a bit too simplified and one-sided, and you could use them as oracle cards, perhaps to show what archetypes could help you on this day, or the current project for which you're seeking input. I keep them in my waiting area, for clients to peruse and tickle their own understanding of archetypal components that contribute to personality.

   Great quality for the price
Great quality at a great price, Mr. Dhaliwal said. The book is helpful to understand what each archetype means.
