The book did its job by speaking about the various civilizations that gave their input to architecture, and the book did not forget to include and ancient Sumeria and ancient Egypt, which is part of Africa. For me, the modernism type of architecture today is not as pretty as the earlier types of architecture. But contemporary architecture is more like show off types of architecture.
   Perfect Gift
My grandson is heading to college to study architecture, and this will be an excellent reference book for him. Paul gave it to him for a gift and he was thrilled.
It is thoroughly detailed with modern photographs, offering an encyclopedic overview of architecture from ancient times to spectacular modern times. A great addition to any library.
   It's a good read
I received the book just in time. Have not seen it through with many nice pictures only. The book came quickly and was in good shape. It has architecture styles from around the world, including a chapter on the Islamic world. It is for me worth the price.
Great Book for Architects and Students!
It is an excellent book of the history of architecture. I'm honest, I bought it thinking that a more in-depth analysis and study of the Roman Colosseum would come inside, at least a few pages dedicated to it, Say it or you won 't find it. What you see on the cover is it, however, the quality of the book and all the historical tour of styles and most famous architecture of every time worth the book.
   Perfect quality reading. Beautiful!!

   Book size 10" x 8"
Great information, but note the size of this book when considering ordering. Not the larger 12x 10 size of some other DK books. It does not sound like much of a difference, but I am disappointed as I look at the size of the print and the photos. I think it is just personal preference, but maybe something else may want to consider before ordering.
   Great overview of architecture!
Love to sit for a few minutes or a few hours with this book. Photos and commentary by Super. I have visited a lot of these places and enjoyed reliving the memories.
   Well put together
I found it very well organized and rather thorough, I may add. If you are looking for a somewhat more detailed visual experience in historical architecture, this is probably perfect for you.
