Book Overview

The megahit Attack on Titan anime is back, with Season Three announced for 2018

In this post-apocalytpic sci-fi story, humanity has been devastated by the bizarre, giant humanoids known as the Titans. Little is known about where they came from or why they are bent on consuming mankind. Seemingly unintelligent, they have roamed the world for years, killing everyone they see. For the past century, what's left of man has hidden in a giant, three-walled city. People believe their 50-meter-high walls will protect them from the Titans, but the sudden appearance of an immense Titan is about to change everything.

Winner of the 2011 Kodansha Manga Award (Shonen) and nominated for the prestigious Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize for 2012.

   Gave me Nightmares
What a great story idea, Baz said. The whole fish tank-like world setting and the structure of concentric city rings make for great built-in storytelling devices. The first installment had great characterization, which is extremely important in gore stories when a lot of characters die, he said. The author of the book "sticks it to us" with the deaths. There are certain scenes in the film that really pull at the heart strings. The story is scary and gut-wrenching, and I love it. When reading this, for some strange reason, I often find myself reflecting on the settings of children's books like Where the Wild Things Are, but of course Attack on Titan is completely different.

   Loved the story
Arrived as expected and was promptly dispatched. Ordered for my daughter after watching Attack on Titan, Jr. But she said the differences are the same.

Great if you haven't seen the show yet
This manga and anime series has blown my mind out of many different ways. It gives you a sense of how the human race could be wiped out of existence by these mysterious creatures called Titans. it gave me chills at times thinking how bad that would be if we were the last of the human race.

   In love with this storyline
Not only is the artwork amazing, but the story is thrilling, compelling, and absolutely addicting! I'm in love with this story idea, too! The cast members all did their homework and came up with some great lines, said Pauley Perrette, one of the show's producers. I can't wait to see where this goes.

   Good
Good so far, but hasn't compared to the anime show for me. Its lacking so many details the show provided us that the manga hasnt. If I didn't watch the show it would be a bit lost in the story line, McBride said. A lot of the characters are just randomly introduced and not explained how they know each other, their back stories or in a few cases it just felt like pages were missing. I'm going to read the whole series to get the feel of it.

   I love AOT but
But when I opened the book, the whole thing was soaking wet and the front cover had bled through all the black and white pages. I was very disappointed and upset, Mr. Rule told the judge.

   Super Interesting!
I'm not a huge fan of Gillian Flynn's books, but I like this one. I usually go for the more cutesy stories, but I wanted something different, Hachette said. I've heard about the anime and haven't watched it, so I wanted to buy the book. To me anime is always better when you have read the manga, MY PERSONAL OPINION!! I'm super excited to watch the anime now! This book is gory, so it's not for the light hearted, Raymond said. Even though I'm not a huge fan of cutesy romance, I was surprised I could get through this book without feeling sick. A must read!
