Book Overview

Two Ayn Rand classics--Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead--together for the first time.

Peopled by larger-than-life heroes and villains, charged with towering questions of good and evil, Atlas Shrugged is Ayn Rand's magnum opus: a philosophical revolution told in the form of an action thriller. It is the story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world--and did. Was he a destroyer or the greatest of liberators? Why did he have to fight his battle, not against his enemies but against those who needed him most--and his hardest battle against the woman he loved? What is the world's motor--and the motive power of every man?

The Fountainhead is the revolutionary literary vision that sowed the seeds of Objectivism, Ayn Rand's groundbreaking philosophy, and brought her immediate worldwide acclaim. This modern classic is the story of intransigent young architect Howard Roark, whose integrity was as unyielding as granite.of Dominique Francon, the exquisitely beautiful woman who loved Roark passionately, but married his worst enemy.and of the fanatic denunciation unleashed by an enraged society against a great creator. As fresh today as it was then, Rand's provocative novel presents one of the most challenging ideas in all of fiction--that man's ego is the fountainhead of human progress.

   Great Read
This was sent to a personal customer as an example of good worth and corporate worth. I have given many copies of these books to friends and business associates, who have always thanked me profusely after reading them.

The Any Rand Box Set: Atlas Shrugged/The Fountainhead was dissappointing
My husband and I had looked forward to reading it and when it arrived the print was so small that neither of us could read it without great eye strain. We threw only a small portion and read the set into the waste basket. If you are publishing a book, make the print a reasonable size.

Be aware of small print size
This is a good price for these substantial works, but the readers should be aware that the type of paper used in this issue is very small.

Print cutoff error, type too small
It appears to be a great deal, but is not. As claimed by several others, the type is way too small, so that your eyes will be strained to focus on the text. But that is not the worst part. The biggest problem with the copy I received two months ago was that a misprint cut the bottom two lines of nearly 100 pages. I really don 't understand how Amazon can sell this without shame. I found this too late to ship it easily, and the $13 price tag is too low to justify the effort of returning it. This is my first Amazon purchase gone bad.

I read Atlas Shrugged as a teenager for the first time. It played a large part in forming my view of the world as an adult.

   Whats to say
As the country seems hell bent on rushing the nation down the toilet, Rand is looking more and more like a prophet. More Damn Shamn had not listened.

   The print is too small
The books are great : The 3 stars are for this format only. Note : I would pay gladly for a printing that can be read comfortably.

1
   tiny print
Unless you have very good eyesight and enjoy reading 1000+ pages of very small print, don 't buy this book. Also not an enjoyable read, over written, implausible plot and characters, trying to sell a philosophy that government is corrupt and no one but highly intelligent and productive people are ridiculous.

   Awful read.
Super boring, sexist, and a little bit of rapey. Some of it was funny and I see why the conservatives love it.

Two of the greatest books of the 20th Century.
Ayn Rand's philosophy challenges the moral and political thinking of the last two thousand years -- and does so very convincingly. Many people look at the world today and see that something is very wrong with the way people think and act. Rand shows readers exactly what it is and gives them the courage to fight for a better world.
