   Informative
He has a very relaxed writing style and I feel like we are having a conversation instead of reading a book. He talks about catching a variety of fish under different conditions, admitting that lots of people fish in different ways and some work and some don 't. He increases your odds by explaining how to eat the right spot, where the fish hang out, and what they like to pick. I look forward to trying his advice.

Not for rhe Pacific Northwest Fisherman
A little disappointed was a bit. We are located in the Pacific Northwest and surrounded by lakes. This book seems focused on the Midwest-East coast rivers and streams. The types of fish we fish are not even mentioned, nor is there much info about lake fishing.

   Great little fishing book
It clarifies what fish likes to see which lures and where they hide. For a visual learner, lots of pictures are necessary. Really helps in learning knots. I would recommend this for anyone.

   Great Resource
This is a great little fishing resource and the author does a great job of delivering a wealth of information. The only downside here is poor formatting on the Kindle, which invariably separates heads from chapters and poorly formats images on multiple pages.

Wow! Should have read this 20 years ago
I am 36 and have been fishing since I could sling a cane pole to a pond. I thought I had the basics down until i read it. I have learned a ton and would recommend this to anyone who is new to fishing or has been a casual fisher like me. Bought the Kindle edition and many of the tutorial images are cropped or poorly aligned. Just ordered the hard copy to carry as a reference with me.

Not for Saltwater Fishing but lots of info....
The title says : Basic Fishing, A Beginner's Guide '', which is why I bought it. As informative, however, as this book is about lakes, ponds, bays and more localized fishing, it is only after you get into about 112 pages that the author informs the reader that this book does not cover saltwater fishing. This could be a whole other book. There is some good info there, huh, but nothing about any of it in the synopsis. Warning : If you are a saltwater fisherman or woman, this is not the book for you. There is a lot of information on basic fishing, otherwise.
