Book Overview

Taking place during Batman's early days of crime fighting, this new edition of the classic mystery tells the story of a mysterious killer who murders his prey only on holidays. Working with District Attorney Harvey Dent and Lieutenant James Gordon, Batman races against the calendar as he tries to discover who Holiday is before he claims his next victim each month. A mystery that has the reader continually guessing the identity of the killer, this story also ties into the events that transform Harvey Dent into Batman's deadly enemy, Two-Face.

This edition includes original 13-issue series as well as four additional story pages cut from the original series, which are presented fully colored and restored to their place in the story. Also featured are sketches and an introduction by the director and writer of The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan and David Goyer.

   Brilliant batman comic
This is the greatest comic book I ever read and maybe one of my favorite books. The art is the best art in any comic book. If you heard that the dark knight returns is the greatest comic book ever written, don 't listen to them. It's not. This is : This is the story of a Halloween when Carmine Falcone, the nephew of Johnny Viti, is shot and killed by Carmine Falcone. From then on, the long Halloween begins. Every holiday, someone is assassinated. The newspapers call him Holiday. Also, you never guess the end.
   Great Batman story!
One of the best stories of Batman is one of his own. The art is great, pacing is perfect, and the story keeps you hooked from beginning to end. I won 't spoil anything, but if you have a Batman fan and you don 't have this book, get it. You WILL NOT be disappointed! You 'll also pick up a lot of influences to the Dark Knight Trilogy. Nolen was definitely influenced by this book, which is pretty awesome as well. Great Book!
   "I believe in Harvey Dent"
One of the best Batman stories ever recorded. If you're looking for a Batman book with a ton of familiar characters mixed with a story that will prevent you from putting the book down before the last page is turned, this is the one for you!
Exceptional Calendar-themed Story; Jeff Loeb and Tim Sale at their best
I loved the month-by-month nature of this story, both thematically and creatively in how it was actually published. It would have been agony waiting for each of these in real time, so I'm glad I came to this story once it was collected. In similar fashion to Hush and Batman Year One, the artwork is gritty, making an exceptional use of shadows and shading. The plot is tight and enthralling, fast-paced and grippy, what I expect from these revered cartoonists and writers. Especially to Batman and DC fans, but really to all fans of wonderful storytelling I highly recommend this, especially to Batman and DC fans.
   Great gift option!
It made a great gift to my boyfriend, who is a Batman fan. Very good quality. Very, very good. For myself, would order again. Arrived in great condition and in early condition.
"I believe in Gotham City. I believe in Batman. I believe in Harvey Dent."
I am relatively new to comics, having read only a handful so far. Nevertheless, The Long Halloween is one of the best detective stories that is right at home in the dark, rainy, hopeless world of Gotham City. The artwork comes before your eyes to life. Narration and dialog is so character driven, that you can hear in their head almost the depth and tone of their voice. In the crime-ridden city of Gotham, Jim Gordon, Harvey Dent, and The Batman are pushed to their limit, as each man will struggle with whether they are good or bad. Or if good exists in such a corrupt world. A mysterious killer who murders only on the dates of the holidays will forever change the lives of criminal, police, villain, and vigilante.
   Fun read
The heavy ink art style and the gradual build of the story really enjoyed. For those interested, a nice revenge story.
