   Berenstain Bears in the dark
My kids love to tackle any issue a kid would go through and give them encouragement and useful ways to handle the issue. In the dark is no exception, her mom said, because others get scared and encouraged her to face her fears. Even though Dean made fun of himself, the show managed to strike a balance. That was pretty good, too, Mr. Nielsen said. A good read for 1st and 2nd level readers. This book is great for any age.

Can't wait to get my hands on the other Berenstain Bears! Both Axel and I have huge crushes on these books.

   Excellent
I recommend this book to any child who is afraid of the dark. We read it over and over and talked about the things that scare brother and sister most. In this episode of The Fear Factor, we discuss how silly being scared is when you think of what it is that scares you.

The book was purchased for my 5 year old son. The pictures were a bit scary for him, and he has not let me read the book. I've loved the Bears as a kid and plan to purchase more in the future.

Great book for my four year old son who didn't want to be in the dark
The book is very well written and my 4 year old son really enjoyed it. We were having trouble getting him to sleep and he was cranky all the time. He's a voracious reader, and I found this one. He has a nightlight, but this book showed him that most of the shadows in his room are just normal things in his room. Stickers in the book didn't hurt, Mr. Dhaliwal said.

   Very helpful
It was a great Christmas present for my 3 year old grandson who has been having night terrors and is very afraid of the dark. He didn't want me to read it to him after hearing the title, and I was delighted to oblige. But I asked him to trust me and read the opening page's poem about little bears being afraid of the dark. He ended up loving it too, said Blair. I think it really made him think about what it meant to have an active imagination and what was real or not, Raymond said. Afterwards, I read The Old Spooky Tree and he was able to be involved and be loved, too. Berenstain Bears author Pauley Kilpatrick said: "I'm a huge fan of children's books.

Great for kids who struggle with the dark!
I grew up with these books, and since my kids always enjoy them as well, I knew I had to get this one for my child who recently began to struggle HARD at bedtime. Usually he has no problem with the golden child at bedtime, but not this week. It seemed to really help him because the first night we read this he was in his bed all night, sleeping on his own. This is after a week or so if he is fighting bed time and then waking us up multiple times a night. Berenstain Bears has done a great job of creating such a bond, he said. A new book about the Beatles, "Reunion" by Simon & Schuster.

a fave fr my childhood is literally saving the day...
Our 7 yr old has struggled reading, writing and doing math. I can't even begin to quantify the hrs of sleep I've lost worrying, stressing, crying, trying to find something that will spark his interest and turn him onto reading. It was a Berenstain Bears Halloween costume. The creator of the "Laughing Animals" series, Bob Baffer, said the books were "our miracle." I've loved to read all my life. In fact, I have the fondest memories of my grandmother reading dozens of Berenstain Bears books to me as a little girl and then re-reading them to her. Introducing our little love to the Berenstain Bears! Yes, they are too much for a six or seven year old to read alone. The purpose of the book is to encourage reading by co-authors. For me, these are the perfect books for teaching kiddos the ABCs of reading, plot, character development, etc. We're delighted to be able to welcome him to the fold, said Goodrich. This is by far the best book I have ever read.

   Good
It wasn't scary for the kids, and it had a good message, Blair said. It wasn't bad before it got good, Levine said. I really liked it, and I would have liked to have seen more of the skulls. It's just that the VCR didn't work this time. I am frustrated that I can't read this book without giving you a review. Annoying.
