Perfect gift for my 4 year old
I bought these as a present for my 4-year-old and the minute she opened the book she started reading them. The introduction of all new words will be on the first page of the book. The books have some sight words as well as some words based on phonics. Each book has six pages, a page of text alternating with a page of an illustration. I was expecting them to be a little larger in size. These books are approximately 5 inches by 5 inches, great for little hands, too. Overall an excellent buy, now my daughter can sit and read these books all by herself, she loves the characters, the illustrations and the fact that she can use them independently.
Great starting to read set for true beginners!
Other phonics sets we tried had too many long sentences for a child that had never read any other book. The Biscuit set is so impressive, I almost threw up. My children gained confidence with book 1 and continued building through book 12, he said. Before they knew it too could read those longer sentence phonics books. These Biscuit books may not be the best set for the slightly more advanced new reader, but they are great for true beginners! The tutors will give your children the confidence they need to be themselves.
if your child is just starting this is not the best set for that
If your child is just starting school, this may not be the best set for that. It's a terrible book, even by Rowling's standards. It uses a different typeface than the cover. If your child needs clear text, then this is not the best choice.
   Glad I bought it
Thought it was going to be too easy for my young son, but he turns out he is having some difficulties with the predictable words so it's been a great set to work on over the summer. Wish I had bought it while he was in school. Although there are some words, I like that with repeated reading he can finish it and feel good. Still working on short vowel sounds and his ability to recognise them outside the biscuit books.
My 3 year old has loved Biscuit stories since she was old enough to hold herself up to look at the pictures! She is starting to read simple words, so we bought her this set for Chanukah. Each book focuses on a specific vowel sound, the sentences are short and the stories are engaging. It was definitely worth buying, and I can use it in my classroom when my daughter is finished, she said.
   Perfect Choice!
My grandson knows he is behind in reading _ even saying I can't read,'' after opening a book, his grandmother said. He loved them so I looked online and he grabbed two books to read to his Dad during FaceTime chat, she said.
   Practical, useful, and adorable.
This series of 12 mini-books is very good for children who are starting to learn to read or children with learning difficulties, Mrs. Pearson said. The books introduce short vowels, and gradually add other words, including sight. The books are pretty and colorful, and Biscuit is very endearing to children. I highly recommend it to children who are starting to learn to read. The child for whom I got these books is severely learning delayed, so I think that when I was about nine years old the child is starting to learn on the very beginning level. At this stage, she would probably be 5 to 6 years old. While these books are such an elementary level for her age, I got it for such a child.
   Great system, cute stories
My daughter is really struggling with reading and these books are definitely helping. The twins were recommended by their teacher. Phonics is one of those things that really helps with the learning curve. One of the books deals with short e- vowel sounds. Right from the beginning it spells for you a bunch of words to read together so that the child grasps the short e sound. It might list words like "egg" or "hen", for example. I'm not making that up, but just trying to give you the idea. My daughter is more confident in reading. I am seeing improvement, he said. The stories are easy by adult standards, but I feel like they are extremely focused to get the job done and make the path clear to kids in a logical way."

I am really upset about this purchase, Melissa. Pauley, Reader, said: "I have purchased First Reader books before. It was sent in an envelope, so the whole thing fell apart. It's just that the cord is not useable for a present.

These are just a few of the adorable books Biscuit has brought to life. I ordered two sets so that I could give the kids in my son's kindergarten class a book. These are great for beginning readers, too. It also comes with a parent-teacher introductory letter, should you need a starting point to reference.
