Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

The perfect book right now for young readers searching for hope, strength, inspiration -- and just a little horticultural havoc.--New York Times

The first book in a can't-put-it-down, can't-read-it-fast-enough action-thriller trilogy that's part Hatchet, part Alien

The invasion begins--but not as you'd expect. It begins with rain. Rain that carries seeds. Seeds that sprout--overnight, everywhere. These new plants take over crop fields, twine up houses, and burrow below streets. They bloom--and release toxic pollens. They bloom--and form Venus flytrap-like pods that swallow animals and people. They bloom--everywhere, unstoppable.

Or are they? Three kids on a remote island seem immune to the toxic plants. Anaya, Petra, Seth. They each have strange allergies--and yet not to these plants. What's their secret? Can they somehow be the key to beating back this invasion? They'd better figure it out fast, because it's starting to rain again.

A very satisfying read that any teenager will like
She knows how to make you connect with each of her characters throughout the book, almost as if you are experiencing them yourself. And this was no different. There was something so human about Lauren and Evan's relationship and even though she had a boyfriend, I kept cheering them through the whole thing. Lauren's father was kind of annoying and terrible. I could hardly stand reading about him or how he could not remember anything, especially about his ex-girlfriends. But I loved the reaction of Lauren seeing Evan again after they haven't seen each other for a long time and end up being seated by each other during school. And how they can speak to each other at first almost clearly. Is it reread? I already have, and I have no doubt that I will return. This is truly one of my favorite books by Elizabeth Scott.

3.5 stars -- A serious book. Evan is a loner at a new school and Lauren's boyfriend Dave is perfect-religate and celibate, traveling with his family.

This is a really cute book about a girl who has the perfect boyfreind, but meets with somebody she used to know as a child and really grabs her attention. The Boyfreind is completely unrealistic, but adds to the uncertainty of the book. I really liked it ''.
